Learn three different techniques for creating curls.

  • Step 1:

Using a wide-tooth comb and clips section the hair from the top of the crown to behind the ear on both sides. Then take two sub-sections underneath.

TOOLS NEEDED: Hair clips, wide-tooth comb, small barrel curling iron, Marcel iron or Curling Rod, flat brush, blow dryer.

  • Step 2:

To create a “root curl”, wrap the hair flat against the iron and roll it up to the roots. Elevate the hair and “rock the base” to create volume. Set and release. This technique creates a more refined curl. Elevate the hair and “rock the base” to create additional volume. Work section-by-section using these techniques.

  • Step 3:

Once hair is fully curled its time to go back in and loosen it up. Gently rake through the hair with your fingers to loosen up the curl. You can also use a wide-tooth comb to break-up the curl. If you think the curl is too tight and want to loosen it up even more, use a blow dryer and your hands to soften up the curl. Use can also use a bristle brush and run it through the hair for a classic “S” wave finish
